of <h1>India Updates Designs Rules: Electronic Filing and Payment Now Accepted, New Procedures for Submissions and Classification.</h1> The Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India has amended the Designs Rules, 2001, effective from June 17, 2008. The amendments include changes in the manner of filing and serving documents, the payment of fees, and the format and submission of design representations. Notably, electronic transmission of documents is now recognized, and fees can be paid electronically. The amendments also refine procedural aspects such as the submission of counter-statements and evidence, and the extension of time for filing documents. Additionally, the classification of goods and various forms and schedules have been updated to reflect these changes.
