of <h1>Additional Commissioner of Customs in Chennai Appointed to Adjudicate Goenka Industries Case Under Customs Act, 1962</h1> The Central Board of Excise and Customs has appointed the Additional Commissioner of Customs (Port Import) in Chennai as the common adjudicating authority for matters related to a show cause notice issued to a company, M/s Goenka Industries. This appointment is made under the authority of the Customs Act, 1962, enabling the Additional Commissioner to exercise powers and discharge duties previously held by the Additional/Joint Commissioner of Customs (Import) at Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House in Maharashtra. The notice in question was issued by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Ahmedabad Zonal Unit, on September 28, 2007.
