<h1>Government Approves IT and ITES Special Economic Zone in Madurai, Complying with SEZ Act 2005, Rules 2006</h1> The Central Government has approved the establishment of a sector-specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for information technology and IT-enabled services at Ilandhaikulam village, Madurai District, Tamil Nadu. This initiative, proposed by M/s. Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited, complies with the requirements of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005. A letter of approval was granted on July 26, 2007, and the area designated for the SEZ covers 11.70.5 hectares. The notification was issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on April 30, 2008, under the authority of the Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006.
