Notification designates a sector-specific Special Economic Zone for information technology and information technology enabled services at Sholinganallur II and Perumbakkam Villages. M/s. Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited proposed the SEZ under section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005; after satisfaction of subsection (8) requirements, a letter of approval under subsection (10) of section 3 was granted and, under subsection (1) of section 4 and rule 8 of the SEZ Rules, 2006, the Central Government notifies specified survey parcels and areas as the SEZ for development and operation.
