of <h1>Sandalwood Added to Customs Schedule Under Section 110(1A) of Customs Act 1962, Effective March 7, 2008</h1> The Government of India has issued Notification No. 25/2008-Customs (N.T), amending the earlier Notification No. 31/86-Customs dated 5th February 1986. This amendment, effective from 7th March 2008, adds 'Sandalwood' to the list of items in the Schedule annexed to the original notification. This change is made under the powers conferred by section 110(1A) of the Customs Act, 1962, considering factors like the perishable nature, depreciation in value, storage constraints, and the valuable nature of goods.
