Amendment to Foreign Trade Policy permits export of non-basmati rice to Madagascar, Comoros, and Mauritius.
The Central Government, exercising its powers under the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, has amended the Foreign Trade Policy to allow exceptions to the prohibition on exporting non-basmati rice. Specifically, the export of 50,000 metric tons of rice to Madagascar through the State Trading Corporation (STC), and 25,000 metric tons to Comoros and 9,000 metric tons to Mauritius through the Metals and Minerals Trading Corporation (MMTC) is permitted. This amendment, effective immediately, is issued in the public interest.
