of <h1>Government Eases Import Rules for 800cc+ Motorcycles; Requires EU Type Approval, EURO III Compliance</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 59 dated April 13, 2007, concerning Import Licensing Notes (9) of Chapter 87, Schedule-I (Imports) in the ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items, 2004-09. The amendment allows the import of new motorcycles with an engine capacity of 800 cc or more by various importers, including individuals, companies, and OEMs, without certain prior conditions. During Customs clearance, an EC Type Approval Certificate or Certificate of COP from an accredited EU agency, with a notarized English translation, must be provided. Imported motorcycles must comply with EURO III emission norms as per EU Directive 2003/77/EC.
