This amendment introduces a proviso in paragraph 11, allowing the surviving joint holder of a term deposit to encash it before maturity upon the death of the first holder. The surviving holder must apply to the bank's branch manager with proof of the first holder's death. This amendment is issued under the authority of Section 80C of the Income-tax Act, 1961.
