This amendment, made under the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, replaces previous notices and affects the import policy for raw silk. Raw silk (not thrown) is now classified as a restricted item, requiring a license or adherence to a specific public notice for import. Import of Mulberry Raw Silk Grade 2A and above is allowed against a Special Import Licence, with specific conditions on the value of the surrendered licence.
