India Updates Export-Import Policy: Zero-Duty for Biotech, Engineering Sectors Over Rs.1 Crore
The Government of India has issued amendments to the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002, under the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992. The amendments introduce the inclusion of the biotechnology sector and specific engineering sub-sectors, such as machine tools, automotive components, and scientific instruments, for zero-duty benefits if the CIF value is Rs.1 crore or more. Additionally, the policy now allows EOU/EPZ/EHTP/STP units to obtain benefits from paragraph 10.3(b)(c)(d) upon providing a disclaimer from DTA suppliers and securing Brand Rates from the DGFT. These changes are issued in the public interest.
