Amendment to Foreign Trade Policy 2004-2009: Changes to Import Duty Rules Under Paragraph 4.4.6 Effective November 2007.
The Central Government has amended the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2004-2009, effective as of November 14, 2007. The amendment replaces the second sub-paragraph of paragraph 4.4.6, stipulating that once transferability is endorsed, imports or domestic procurement against authorization will incur applicable additional customs or excise duties. The authorization will note the liability for these duties. However, if the CENVAT facility has not been utilized, an exemption from these additional duties is available even after transferability is endorsed on the Duty-Free Import Authorization (DFIA). This amendment is issued in the public interest.
