of <h1>Central Govt Amends Excise Rules: Labeling, Repacking, Galvanization Now Considered Manufacturing for Exemptions Under Central Excise Act 1944</h1> The Central Government, under the authority of the Central Excise Act, 1944, has amended two notifications related to Central Excise exemptions. Notification No. 8/2001 and No. 9/2001, both dated March 1, 2001, have been updated to include provisions for goods under heading No. 17.02. These amendments specify that labelling, relabelling, repacking, or other treatments that render the goods marketable are considered manufacturing processes. Additionally, the process of galvanization for goods under Chapter 73 is also deemed manufacturing. These changes aim to clarify the excise treatment of such goods.
