of <h1>Amendments to SSI Exemption: Changes to Rubberised Coir Mattresses and Corrugated Paper Products Under Central Excise Act, 1944</h1> The Central Government has amended SSI Exemption Notification Nos. 8/2000 and 9/2000, effective from March 16, 2001, under the Central Excise Act, 1944. The amendments include changes to the exemptions for rubberised coir mattresses and the inclusion of cartons, boxes, containers, and cases made of corrugated paper or paperboard. Notification No. 9/2000 introduces transitional provisions for manufacturers of these products, allowing clearances at a concessional rate of 60% of normal duty for an aggregate value not exceeding ten lakhs rupees, applicable from March 1 to March 31, 2001.
