of <h1>Excise Duty Exemption for Defence Project SAMYUKTA Extended Until August 31, 2000; Requires Certification from Programme Director.</h1> The Central Government, under the Central Excise Act, 1944, has issued an amendment exempting goods supplied to Defence Project SAMYUKTA from excise duty until August 31, 2000. This exemption requires a certificate from the Programme Director of SAMYUKTA confirming the goods are intended for the project. This amendment modifies an earlier notification from March 16, 1995, and will not be effective beyond September 1, 2000.
