Central Government Amends Excise Duty Exemption for Special Frontier Force Goods under Section 5A of Central Excise Act.
The Central Government, under the authority of section 5A of the Central Excise Act, 1944, has amended a previous notification to exempt goods manufactured by the Special Frontier Force from excise duty. This amendment modifies the notification No. 62/95-Central Excise dated 16th March 1995, by replacing the term 'Special Services Bureau' with 'Special Services Bureau, Special Force.' This change reflects the government's decision to exempt these goods from excise duty in the interest of public welfare, effective from 23rd September 1999.
