The proposal was submitted by a government undertaking, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation Limited, under the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005. The SEZ covers a total area of 223.560 hectares, with various specified survey numbers and areas listed. The approval and authorization for the development, operation, and maintenance of this SEZ were granted on April 3, 2006, fulfilling all necessary legal requirements.
