of <h1>Amendments to Excise Notifications: 'Exclusively' Changed to 'Primarily' for Specific Serial Numbers in Cotton Fabrics Excise Duties.</h1> The Central Government, under the Central Excise Act, 1944, and the Additional Duties of Excise Act, 1957, has issued amendments to existing excise notifications in the public interest. For Notification No. 5/98-CE dated June 2, 1998, and Notification No. 9/96-CE dated July 23, 1996, the term 'exclusively' is replaced with 'primarily' in specific provisions for serial numbers 108, 109, 11, and 12. These changes are detailed in the annexed table and are intended to modify the application of excise duties on cotton fabrics. The principal notifications were previously amended on December 15, 1998.
