of <h1>Amendment to Excise Notification: MRP-Based Duty on Medicaments Revised Under Section 4A, Effective June 6, 2007.</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 2/2005-Central Excise (N.T.), initially issued on January 7, 2005, concerning MRP-based duty on medicaments. The amendment, effective June 6, 2007, involves replacing the word 'Chapter' with 'Chapter or Heading No.' Additionally, entries in the table against serial numbers 1 and 2 are revised to '3003 or 3004.' These changes are made under the authority of section 4A of the Central Excise Act, 1944, and are deemed necessary in the public interest. The principal notification was previously amended on December 29, 2006.
