<h1>India Bans Import of Certain Livestock and Products Under Foreign Trade Act; Restrictions Linked to Avian Influenza</h1> The Central Government of India, under the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, has amended the ITC (HS) Classification of Export and Import Items, prohibiting the import of certain livestock and livestock products from all countries. This includes domestic and wild birds, live pigs, specific pig meat products, avian meat, and products of avian origin. Additionally, imports from countries with outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza are restricted for specific avian species, hatching eggs, and related products. This prohibition is effective for six months from the notification date or until further notice, issued in the public interest.
