India Raises Export Limits on Sand and Soil to Maldives under Foreign Trade Act, 1992
The Central Government of India has amended the export policy for sand and soil to the Maldives, enhancing the export ceiling. Under the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, and the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002, the export of sand and soil is restricted but permitted to the Maldives within specified limits. For the financial year 1999-2000, the ceiling for stone aggregate is increased from 100,000 MTs to 115,000 MTs, and for river sand from 110,000 MTs to 125,000 MTs. For subsequent years up to 2002-2003, the annual ceilings are set at 190,000 MTs for stone aggregate and 210,000 MTs for river sand. CAPEXIL will monitor these ceilings and report quarterly to the DGFT.
