NAFED Permitted to Export 3,500 Metric Tons of Onions to Sri Lanka and Mauritius Until January 31, 2000.
The Central Government has amended the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002, permitting NAFED to export 3,500 metric tons of onions, excluding Poddusu and Bangalore Rose varieties, to Sri Lanka and Maldives until January 31, 2000. This modification follows an earlier notification allowing the export of 5,000 metric tons to Mauritius and Sri Lanka, of which only 1,500 metric tons were exported. Consequently, NAFED is authorized to export the remaining balance. The notification, issued in the public interest, was later updated to replace Maldives with Mauritius as per a subsequent notification.
