<h1>India Updates Import Policy: Angostura Bitters Now Free to Import; Other Alcoholic Preparations Restricted Under Notification No. 38</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Commerce, has issued Notification No. 38 (RE-99) 1997-2002, amending the ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items. Effective from December 6, 1999, the notification introduces new entries under Exim Code 220810, concerning compound alcoholic preparations. The import policy classifies 'Angostura Aromatic Bitters' as free for import, while other compound alcoholic preparations are categorized as restricted. This amendment is enacted under the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, and is issued in the public interest by the Director General of Foreign Trade.
