of <h1>India Amends Export-Import Policy to Reimburse Excise Duty on Bulk Tea for EOUs and EPZs from Dec 1, 1999.</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Commerce, has issued an amendment to the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002. This amendment, effective from December 1, 1999, allows for the reimbursement of Central Excise duty paid on bulk tea procured from licensed auction centers by Export Oriented Units (EOUs) and Export Processing Zones (EPZs). The reimbursement will be provided by the Development Commissioner of the respective zone at all industry rates, as long as the levy on bulk tea remains in force. This measure is intended to support public interest.
