of <h1>India Updates ITC (HS) Export-Import Rules; Uranium and Thorium Ores Now Free to Import Under Section 14(1)(ii).</h1> The Government of India has amended the ITC (HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items for 1997-2002. These amendments, effective from November 22, 1999, designate certain items as 'free' for import, including uranium ores, thorium ores, ilmenite, rare earth oxides, zirconium ores, and various uranium and thorium compounds. However, these imports are subject to compliance with Section 14(1)(ii) of the Atomic Energy Act, 1962, along with its rules. This notification was issued by the Director General of Foreign Trade in the interest of public policy.
