of <h1>India Allows 50,000 Metric Tons Maize Import for Starch Makers Without License Until Dec 31, 1999, Under User Condition</h1> The Indian government, under the Foreign Trade Policy, permits the import of 50,000 metric tons of maize by starch manufacturers without a license until December 31, 1999. This import is subject to the actual user condition, requiring importers to register their import contracts or letters of credit with NAFED. NAFED will monitor the imports based on recommendations from the Ministry of Textiles. This decision is issued in the public interest by the Director General of Foreign Trade.
