<h1>Central Government Expands Jurisdiction of Customs Officials Nationwide Under Customs Act, 1962 with Updated Notifications.</h1> The Central Government, under the authority of the Customs Act, 1962, has appointed the Principal Commissioner of Customs or Commissioner of Customs, Additional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, and Assistant Commissioners of Customs from the Directorate of Valuation to corresponding roles within the customs framework. This appointment extends their jurisdiction across India. The original notification, dated December 21, 1998, was amended by Notification No. 29/99 on May 11, 1999, and further updated by Notification No. 56/2014 on August 6, 2014.
