<h1>Chief Commissioner of Central Excise Gains Power to Adjudicate Notices per Section 37A of Central Excise Act, 1944</h1> The Central Government, under the authority of section 37A of the Central Excise Act, 1944, has issued a directive allowing the Chief Commissioner of Central Excise to exercise powers for adjudicating notices under the Central Excise Rules, 2002. This authority, previously held by the Central Board of Excise and Customs, is now extended to the Chief Commissioner within their jurisdiction for adjudication purposes. This decision is formalized in Notification No. 11/2007-Central Excise (N.T.), dated March 1, 2007.
