of <h1>Chief Commissioner of Customs Appointed as Director General (Safeguard) Under Customs Tariff Rules, Effective February 22, 2007</h1> Notification No. 17/2007-Customs (N.T.), issued by the Government of India's Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, supersedes the previous notification No. 80/2005-Customs (N.T.) dated September 20, 2005. Effective February 22, 2007, the Central Government appoints the Chief Commissioner of Customs as the Director General (Safeguard) under the Customs Tariff (Identification and Assessment of Safeguard Duty) Rules, 1997. This appointment is made to facilitate the identification and assessment of safeguard duties. The notification is documented under file number 528/57/2004-Cus.(TU).
