of <h1>1958 Notification: Customs Duty Exemption for Armed Forces Re-imports, Superseded by 2017 Notification.</h1> The notification, issued on October 25, 1958, exempts articles re-imported into India or the State of Pondicherry by units of the Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force) returning from service abroad from customs duties. This exemption applies to both the standard customs duty specified in the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, and any additional duties under section 3 of the same act. The exemption is contingent upon the articles being proven to have been exported by the unit at the time of their departure for service abroad. This notification has been superseded by Notification No. 17/2017-Customs dated April 21, 2017.
