of <h1>Amendment to Notification No. 20/2006-Customs: Customs Duty Exemption for IT Software Effective January 1, 2007, Excludes Floppy Discs.</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 20/2006-Customs, originally issued on March 1, 2006, through Notification No. 139/2006-Customs dated December 30, 2006. Exercising powers under section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962, this amendment alters the entries for S. No. 60 in the notification's table to exempt customs duty on information technology software, excluding that on floppy discs or cartridge tapes. This amendment is deemed necessary in the public interest and will take effect from January 1, 2007.
