This appointment is made under the powers granted by the Customs Act, 1962, and the Central Excise Rule, 2002. The Commissioner is authorized to exercise the powers and duties of the Commissioners of Customs and Central Excise in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai for adjudicating matters related to a show cause notice issued to a company and others by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence.
