of <h1>New Director General (Safeguards) Appointed Under Customs Tariff Rules 1997, Superseding Previous Notifications</h1> The notification announces the supersession of Notification No. 86/2004-CUSTOMS (N.T.) dated July 7, 2004, by Notification No. 80/2005-CUSTOMS (N.T.) dated September 20, 2005, which is further superseded by Notification No. 17/2007-Cus (N.T.). Under the authority of the Customs Tariff (Identification and Assessment of Safeguard Duty) Rules, 1997, the Central Government appoints a new Director General (Safeguards), specifically the Chief Commissioner, for the purposes outlined in these rules. The notification is issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, with the Under Secretary to the Government of India overseeing the process.
