of <h1>Customs Act Amendment Withdraws Exemptions for IT and Telecom Goods Under Serial Nos. 17 and 28. Effective March 6, 2006.</h1> The Central Government, under the powers of the Customs Act, 1962, has amended Notification No. 20/2006-Customs dated March 1, 2006. This amendment, effective from March 6, 2006, withdraws exemptions for certain IT and telecom goods. Specifically, the exemption will no longer apply to the goods listed under serial numbers 17 and 28 in the table annexed to Notification No. 6/2006-Central Excise, dated March 1, 2006. This change is deemed necessary in the public interest.
