of <h1>India Amends Customs Notification for Duty Exemptions on Project ASTRA Missile System Imports Until September 2013</h1> The Government of India issued Notification No. 16/2013-Customs on March 25, 2013, amending Notification No. 39/96-Customs to provide duty exemptions for Project ASTRA, an Air-to-Air Missile System under the Ministry of Defence. The exemption applies to machinery, equipment, and other materials imported by authorized work centers designated by a Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Defence. The imports must be certified by the Project Director of ASTRA and not manufactured in India. This exemption is valid until September 1, 2013.
