Customs Notification Amendment: Changes in Conditions 21(b) and 21A Impacting Leather Footwear Manufacturers' Import Values
The Central Government has amended Customs Notification No. 21/2002, dated March 1, 2002, under the powers of the Customs Act, 1962. The amendments include changes to condition 21(b), replacing 'total value' with 'FOB value.' Condition 21A now specifies that goods imported by manufacturers of leather or synthetic footwear for export must not exceed 3% of the FOB value of exports from the previous financial year. Additionally, condition 96 has been revised by omitting condition (a) and renumbering condition (b) as (a). These changes are aimed at regulating import values for manufacturers registered with the Council for Leather Exports.
