<h1>Import License Policy for Rough Marble Blocks Sets Quotas, Eligibility, and Pricing Rules for 2012-13</h1> The government has issued a policy for import licenses of rough marble and travertine blocks for the financial year 2012-13, restricting imports under specified ITC HS codes and setting a total quota of 600,000 metric tonnes with a minimum import price of US$325 per metric tonne. Eligibility for import licenses is limited to units owning marble gangsaw machines installed by March 31, 2012, operational for at least five years, and having a cumulative turnover of at least Rs. 5 crore from processed marble slabs/tiles during 2006-07 to 2010-11. License quantities are capped per gangsaw machine, subject to actual user conditions, monthly reporting requirements, and validity until September 30, 2013. Applications must be submitted with prescribed documentation by August 31, 2012, and false information will lead to debarment and penalties under the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act.
