<h1>Customs Act 1962: Nationwide Jurisdiction Assigned to Chief Commissioners and Commissioners of Customs via June 30, 2004 Notification.</h1> The notification, issued on June 30, 2004, outlines the jurisdictional authority of Customs officers under the Customs Act, 1962. It appoints the Principal Director General of Revenue Intelligence and the Director General of Inspection, Customs, and Central Excise as Chief Commissioners of Customs with nationwide jurisdiction. Commissioners of Central Excise are designated as Commissioners of Customs within their respective jurisdictions, as specified by the Central Excise Rules, 2002. Additional, Joint, Deputy, and Assistant Commissioners of Central Excise are similarly appointed to corresponding roles in Customs. This notification supersedes previous notifications and has been subject to subsequent amendments.
