of <h1>India Amends Baggage Rules: Duty-Free Allowance Increased to Rs. 35,000 and Rs. 15,000 for Travelers</h1> The Government of India has issued Notification No. 21/2012-Customs (N.T.), amending the Baggage Rules, 1998, under the Customs Act, 1962. Effective from the date of publication in the Official Gazette, the amendment increases the duty-free allowance limits for travelers. Specifically, the limit for item (a) is raised from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 35,000, and for item (b), from Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 15,000. This amendment updates the rules initially established in 1998 and last amended in 2011.
