of <h1>India Rescinds Three Central Excise Notifications Under Section 5A of Central Excise Act, 1944 for Public Interest</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance, has issued Notification No. 17/2012-Central Excise, dated March 17, 2012, which rescinds three previous Central Excise notifications: No. 2/2008 dated March 1, 2008, No. 59/2008 dated December 7, 2008, and No. 18/2009 dated July 7, 2009. This action is taken under the powers conferred by section 5A of the Central Excise Act, 1944, and is deemed necessary in the public interest. The rescission applies except for actions completed or omitted before this notification.
