of <h1>Government Cancels 2007 SEZ Notification for Electronic Hub in South 24 Parganas, West Bengal; Area Denotified</h1> The Central Government has rescinded the notification establishing a sector-specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for electronic hardware and software at Mouza-Banagram and Sarmasterchowk, District South 24 Parganas, West Bengal. Initially proposed by a private company under the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005, the SEZ covered an area of 11.78 hectares. The area was notified as an SEZ in 2007. However, the company proposed to denotify the area, and the government approved this request on August 8, 2011. The rescission does not affect actions taken before its implementation.
