of <h1>India Amends Customs Notification to Exempt Duty on LR-SAM Programme Imports for Defence Until Nov 25, 2011 -SAM</h1> The Government of India, through Notification No. 64/2011-Customs dated July 19, 2011, amends Notification No. 39/96-Customs to include an exemption for customs duty on specific goods required for the Long Range Surface to Air Missile (LR-SAM) Programme of the Ministry of Defence. This exemption applies to machinery, equipment, instruments, and other specified items imported by authorized centers designated by a senior officer in the Ministry of Defence. The exemption is valid until November 25, 2011, and requires certification by the Programme Director of LR-SAM to confirm the necessity and authorized use of the goods.
