of <h1>Central Government Expands Applicability of Monopolies Act to Certain Entities, Excludes Defense, Atomic Energy, and Currency Units.</h1> The Central Government, using its authority under section 3 of the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Act, 1969, has issued a directive that the Act will apply to specific undertakings and financial institutions, as outlined in clauses (a), (b), (c), (e), (f), and (g). However, exceptions are made for undertakings owned or controlled by a Government company or the Government involved in the production of defense-related items, atomic energy, specified minerals, and industrial units under the Currency and Coinage Division of the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs.
