<h1>Small-Scale Industrial Units Exempted from Section 58A of Companies Act, 1956; New Criteria on Capital and Deposits</h1> The notification exempts specified small-scale industrial units from the provisions of section 58A of the Companies Act, 1956. It replaces an earlier notification from 1984 and applies to companies meeting certain criteria: a paid-up capital not exceeding Rs. 12 lakhs, acceptance of deposits from no more than 50 persons, no public invitation for deposits, and deposits not exceeding Rs. 8 lakhs or the paid-up capital, whichever is less. A small-scale industrial unit is defined as an undertaking registered with the Directorate of Industries with plant and machinery investment not exceeding Rs. 35 lakhs.
