of <h1>India Extends Rail Transport Service Tax Exemption to January 2012 per Notification No. 39/2011-Service Tax</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance, has amended Notification No. 08/2010-Service Tax to extend the exemption for services related to the transport of specified goods by rail. The amendment changes the expiration date from July 2011 to January 2012. This decision is made under the authority of the Finance Act, 1994, and is deemed necessary in the public interest. The amendment was officially recorded in Notification No. 39/2011-Service Tax, dated 14th June 2011, and published in the Gazette of India.
