of <h1>Interest Exemption Updated for Post Office Savings: Rs. 3,500 Individual, Rs. 7,000 Joint Account under Income-tax Act, 1961</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. G.S.R. 607(E) concerning the Income-tax Act, 1961. Specifically, in the table of the original notification, the entry for serial number 9 has been replaced. The new entry specifies that the interest exemption for a Post Office Savings Bank Account is Rs. 3,500 for an individual account and Rs. 7,000 for a joint account. This amendment takes effect from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
