of <h1>Air Freight Service Tax Exemption Introduced in 2011, Later Rescinded in 2012 Under Finance Act Section 93(1)</h1> The Central Government issued Notification No. 9/2011, effective from April 1, 2011, exempting the transportation of goods by air service from service tax. This exemption applies to the extent that air freight is included in the customs value of goods, as determined under section 14 of the Customs Act, 1962. The notification was enacted under the authority of section 93(1) of the Finance Act, 1994, in the public interest. This exemption was later rescinded by Notification No. 34/2012 on June 20, 2012.
