of <h1>Delhi VAT Act Amended: NGOs Selling 'Jan Ahaar' Exempt from Tax with Approval by Social Welfare Department</h1> The Lieutenant Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi has amended the First Schedule of the Delhi Value Added Tax Act, 2004. This amendment, effective from June 1, 2010, introduces a new entry, number 79, which exempts from VAT the sale of food known as 'Jan Ahaar' by Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in Delhi. These NGOs must be approved by the Department of Social Welfare and Women and Child Welfare, Government of NCT of Delhi, to qualify for this exemption.
