of <h1>Government Revokes Software Service Tax Exemption; Effective December 21, 2010, Under Finance Act Section 93(1)</h1> The Central Government has rescinded Notification No. 02/2010, which provided an exemption from service tax on software where excise duty was paid. This decision was made under the authority of section 93(1) of the Finance Act, 1994, and is deemed necessary in the public interest. The rescission is effective from December 21, 2010, and does not affect actions taken or omitted before this date. The notification was issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, and is documented in Notification No. 51/2010 - Service Tax.
