of <h1>Government Approves Full De-Notification of Essar SEZ in Hazira, Gujarat; Affects Engineering and Handicraft Sectors</h1> The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a notification regarding the de-notification of a sector-specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for engineering products in Village Hazira, Taluka Choryasi, Gujarat. Initially notified on 28th September 2006, the SEZ covered 247.5222 hectares. Subsequent de-notifications reduced it to 178.5874 hectares. Essar SEZ Hazira Limited proposed to de-notify the entire remaining area, which the Central Government approved on 15th July 2009. The notification also mentions the de-notification of 10 hectares from a UK-notified SEZ for the handicraft sector. The notification rescinds previous notifications, maintaining actions done prior to rescission.
