of <h1>India Removes Customs Duty Exemption on Cotton Waste Effective October 2010 Under Section 25(1) of Customs Act</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance's Department of Revenue, has issued Notification No. 106/2010-Customs, dated October 1, 2010, which rescinds Notification No. 44/2010-Customs from April 9, 2010. This rescission removes the customs duty exemption previously granted to all sorts of cotton waste. The decision was made under the authority of section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962, and is deemed necessary in the public interest. The rescission does not affect actions taken or omitted before this change.
